Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev secured his first championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in specific - caused him falling of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the past month - culminating in a closely contested competitive triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial title after the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt after spring of the previous year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has won 21 titles at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is particularly special," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's counter-punching play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted some to wonder if his capacity to perform at the elite level was over.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete positively, backed up by an improved serving game.

The champion came back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to push for a decider.

He saved 4 initial chances in a tight final set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet failing to control a volley after a lengthy match.
